野外上映アクション

雑誌『映画芸術』のイベントの中で稲川さんと対談されてましたが、そこで印象的だなと思ったのは、ずいぶん長い間、沖島監督は妄想の中で生きていたと。それが何かはわからないが。先ほどちょっと伝え忘れたのですが、（沖島監督の）第1作は69年で、2作目が89年で、その間にテレビの脚本をたくさん量産されていて、『まんが日本昔話』に関しては1400話、メインライターですよね。いわゆる、「なんとかじゃった」という言葉は沖島さんから生まれたと言っても過言ではないのですが、そこでシナリオを書かれていたという時期があり、このあいだおっしゃっていたのは、ただそうは言っても、開発、開発で足を踏みしめる大地がなければ妄想すら出来ないとおしゃってましたけど（0：14）

今日は沖島さんが玉川上水を歩きながら、画面にいろんな人が通り過ぎるのですが、あの人たちはあの人たちでぜんぜん違う見え方をあの場所にしているっていうのが、いわあゆるあの場所がなくなるっていう自然環境の問題があるんですけれども、もっと重要なのはそこにいる人たちのある種の存在とか想像力とか考え方、思考みたいなものが根こそぎもっていかれるような問題意識があって、ここ（宮下公園）でやる意味はあるんじゃないかなと思って（1：18）

自然、自然なんて言ったって貧しい自然でね。生活そのものはそういう意味で貧しいんですよ。でも、そこへこだわらないと、取り付く場所もないんだよね（2：20）

Outdoor Screening

One thing I particularly remember when Mr. Okishima, a film director, was talking in an event organised by a magazine Film Art. He said he had once lost himself in a fantasy for a while, though he didn’t say what it was. Just an additional information but Okishima used to work on TV scripts for 20 years between his first film in 1969 and the second one in 1989, particularly for ‘Manga Japanese Folklore Tales’ that had 1400 episodes. You could almost say he invented the famous opening phrase “once upon a time…” Anyway, in the talk, he was saying that nowadays, urban development and gentrification dominate all over Japan and there is no land where we can grab with our feet. So much so that we can’t even have fantasies…(0.14)

At today’s screening of his documentary, Mr. Okishima was walking along the Tamagawa canal while people passing by. They were all seeing the same scenery but perhaps differently. You know, the main concern of environmental problem for many is the disappearance of familiar sceneries. But perhaps even more fearsome issue is that the local people’s life, imagination, way of thinking, philosophy, these things are disappearing. So it was meaningful to show this documentary at Miyashita Park where the local government is planning gentrification.(1.18)

People nowadays talk about nature but the nature we have now is so poor. To this extent, our life has become poor. It’s unfortunate but we have nothing else other than this poor nature to hang on to.(2.20)

しんどい自分を攻めている若者や、発達障害を持ってらしゃる方の社会の接続点としての場ということで、自分たちの活動が、居場所の機能を果たせればいいなと。果たしながらも、それが共依存など起こさないように、常に表現というものを取り入れながら、支援する人、される人ではなくって、されている人が、、、あっつ来た（0：50）

We are not specialists of any fields such as law, medicine and social welfare. But that fact has been working well for us because we hastily find solutions together like “that person might know something, so let’s go ask”. いろいろイベントやる人が中央から来ているのだけれども、誰もここに住んでいなんだから。展覧会やって新聞には出ても、みんな帰っちゃうんだよね。で、その時に地元の作家はほとんど声かけてくれないし、参加させてくれないんだよね（0：00）

地元の人にとって、関係ないっていうか、地元の人はただ、あそこにレンガがあったけど、手伝いに、ボランティアに来て下さいみたいな感じでしょ。最後に記念にレンガもらって、名前書いて、ここに並べろよみたいな。だから、ストーリーが出来ているんだよね。で、そのストーリーが出来ている中に、ただ、はい、はい、はい、として、市民の方から、こうしたいとか、あーしたいとか、来年こうしようとか、そんなのないんだよ（0：22）

生活のリズム、生活の中で流れている時間と一緒に、そういうプロジェクトが流れていかないんだよね、僕はそう思うんですよ（1：13）

結局、イベントっていうのは、さぁーときて、プログラムが決まっているじゃないですか。何月何日にやりますよって。で、それに向かってざぁーっと行って、打ち上げあって、花火があがって、パーティーがあって終わりなんだよね。でも、生活は誰もが知っているように、生活はそうじゃなくて、ずーっと続いているわけじゃない（1：32）

自分たちは生活していく中で、はっきり言えば、無理しないで、出来ること、みんなお金も無いんだし。第一、補助金なんか、もう貰ってないんだから。はじめの一年だけですよ補助金が出たのは。その後、切られちゃうんだから。5年とか 10年とか面倒見てくれないんだから行政は。だから、そんなんだったら、自分たちが生活している中で、無視しないで持続出来る中で、やれることを少しずつやりながらやっていく。だから、僕らがやっているようなことは、ここの商店街の人にとってそんなに、もの凄く、 違和感がない。あっ、またやっているかあ見たいな。でも、それでいいと思うんですよ。そういう風にして少しずつやっていく。でも、横手では、実際にはここの商店街の向こう側のところは既に区画整理をしようかという、市のプロジェクトが始まっているわけじゃないですか。だから、ひょっとしたら、5年後ぐらいにはここの商店街は更地になっちゃうかもしれない、という事が分かっていながら、でも、僕らの中でやれることをやっていっても僕はいいと思うんだけども。だから、アートで何が出来るかみたいな事は、僕はなんかそういうふうな事だと思うんですよ。なんか、うまく言えないけど（2：02）

When cultural events are organised here, lecturers and artists are invited from Tokyo, not from here. So even exhibitions are exposed to media such as newspapers, these artists go back to Tokyo, anyway. And local artists are not invited or asked to participate. (0.01)

I feel it’s nothing to do with the locals. For example, you saw the bricks there, right? Locals are only asked help as volunteers. You are given one of these bricks, then you are instructed to put your name down on it and lay it down on the street for memorial. And that’s it. I mean the story has already been written and we, as ‘volunteers’, would have to do whatever we are told. So locals don’t suggest what they want to do next year. (0.22)

Public projects don’t go with the rhythm of everyday life or the way time passes. I feel that these projects are not part of our everyday life. (1.13)

After all, events are all programmed such as ‘so and so date we do this and that’. And we work towards that date then do the opening event, main event like big fireworks and the rest, and the post-event party and it ends. But we all know that everyday life is not like that it keeps going. (1.32)

To be honest, no one has money and we don’t receive public funding any more. So we should do what we can afford to do. It was only for the first year that we got funded and after that the money has been cut. You know, the local government doesn’t take care of us for 5 years, 10 years. So we should do something we care and can keep on doing slowly along with our everyday life. You know, we should do something the people on this shopping street feel not so out of place. It’s ok to do things that local people would say ‘oh they are doing it again’. The city council is leading a gentrification at the other side of this shopping street. So it’s possible that this street is flattened in 5 years time. But still, we should keep on doing what we can do. I can’t say it well, but I think what art can do is something like that. (2.02)

前町アートセンター（MAC）

山口市という町があるんですけれども、山口市って新しく開発した住宅とか古い地域とかいろいろ斑模様になっている中で、前町アートセンター（MAC）がある場所は結構古い人たちが住んでいる場所なんですね（0：01）
僕がここに引っ越して来た時に思ったのは、結構、子供がたくさんいるなという印象があった。子供を育てながら暮らしている 人たちがたくさんいます。でも、何処からか引っ越して来たというよりは、地元の場所というか、親が直ぐ近くに住んでいるとか、そういうことが多かったので、なんか、それが特徴的だなと思ったのですね（0：20）
ちょうど僕も子供ができたとかした事があっていい環境、いい関係の中で自分の子供を育てるというのも興味があったので、だから、そういう事で地元の人たちと関係をどんどん結びたいなあと思った時に、工作教室っていうのを思いついたのですね（0：45）
で、工作教室をやっていくと面白いお母さんたちが何人も出てきて、なんかイベントしたいとか、でも、もともと彼女たちは 若い時に自分たちでイベントを考えて作ったりしている人たちがいっぱいいたので、なんか、そのパワーというのをまた応用できるはずだと思って大人の工作教室という形でみんなが自分でやりたいと思っているイベントをMAを使ってやったんです（1：02）
ようやく最近、関係が出来たことがあるという前提のもと、その、人間としての関係が出来た上で、どう現代美術みたいなものをプレゼンテーションしてみようかなということでジョセフ・コスース（Joseph Kosuth）のアーティスト・レクチャーをなるべく背景っていうのがないまま作品を見て、プロジェクターで映して、その作品を見て、何が面白いか話し合う（1：29）
言葉で作品を考えたりとか、自分が言葉をもっている人間だって再認識してみたりとか、そういうこと自体が面白いだろうなっていう事を僕はやっぱりコスースの作品の中に見いだしているし、子育て中のお母さんとかにも味わってもらことは出来たかなっていう実感はあって（1：55）
こういう関係の作り方というのは、一回性のアートイベントとかでは絶対に出来ないことだと思うし（2：17）

ここでこういう活動をするという事は、家族がいるわけで、家族の理解とかは？

一人で住んでいる時にはもちろん自由勝手にやっていて、レジデンス機能とかもどんどん拡張していく。十人ぐらいこの家に泊まったりする時もあるんですけれども、家族がここに住んでいるという時にじゃあ、1階の部屋は生活じゃないのとか、2階にある一部屋だけがベットルームになったりする。そういうところが嫌がるかなと思ったのだけれども、奥さんそれでいいよと言ってくれたし、そこらへんは僕はなんか変な意味で従わせるとか理解してもらおうとか努力はぜんぜんしてなくて、彼女の特質としてぜんぜんそれが気にならないというタイプの人だったからたまたま良かったなあと（2：25）

確かにお母さんたちの旦那に対する不平不満をここで聞くじゃん。
聞くねー。
そうすると、僕はそれをやらなければいいわけだから、傾向と対策ばっちりなんだよ（3：14）

子供にとっての環境てそれが全てだから他と選択はできないし、そんなかで育っていく中では、しょうがないとしか言いようが無いね。子供にはこういう環境で人がいっぱい泊まりにきて、いろいろ話しをしているというのが環境だっていうふうに言って、それが悪影響になるか、良かったことになるかは、彼ら、彼女らが10年、20年経っていかないと分らないのだけれども、少なくとも僕の中ではごめんねとは思ってなくって、こんなもんだよって言って、住んでもらっているというか一緒に暮らしている感じです（03：29）

Maemachi Art Center

I live in a city called Yamaguchi. Yamagushi is a mixture of newly developed areas and traditional neighbourhoods. Maemachi Art Center (MAC) situates in a neighbourhood where many residents have lived for all their lives.(0.01)
My first impression when we moved here was that lots of kids are around in the neighbourhood. It’s not like people moved here recently, but they are locals like their parents live nearby. So I thought that was the characteristic of the area.(0.20)
Since my wife gave a birth during that time I was also interested in bringing up the baby in a good environment with a good relationship with local people. Then I came up with an idea to open an art class.(0.45)
When I started the art class, I met a few mothers who showed interest to organise events. They used to organise events when they are young, so I thought I could use their willingness to do something. I started an art class for adults. And we organised many events at MAC on the basis of what they wanted to do.(1：02)
And now, as I have established a good relationship with them, I thought about presenting contemporary art to them. I came up with an idea to present a lecture on Joseph Kosuth and discuss about his works but without background information.（1：29)
My interpretation of his works is the way he questions about art through language and perhaps how he reiterates that we, human beings, have language. I felt confidence that they also understood his works in a similar way.(1：55)
Given the negative idea most people have on contemporary art I couldn’t have introduced Kosuth to them on one-off art event.(2：17)

But I suppose you had to have understanding from your family for inviting lots of people over all the time?

When I moved here by myself first, I even took 10 art residents in this house. But I have a family now so I can’t do that anymore but we divide the house into private space and public space. For example, the ground floor can be used for art class and the first floor bedroom for us. I first thought my wife would not like the idea but she was fine about it. So it’s not like I tried to convince her but she is a kind of person who doesn’t care about it which I find it lucky.(2：25)

You know, we hear mothers complaining about their husbands.
Wife: Yes.
These complaints help me not to do the same to you like learn and apply.(3：14)

You know, kids can’t choose the environment they grow up. So they have to give in. They have to take the reality that their living environment is where lots of people come and discuss all the time. We won’t be able to know if it’s good or bad for them for another 10 or 20 years. But I don’t feel guilty about it. I let them put up with it by saying “that’s life”.(3：29)

カマン！メディアセンター

みんながおしゃべりを始める状況をメディアと捉えてやっていこうというのが、このメディアセンター自体のコンセプトでもあり、ここで捉えているメディアというのがそういうものなんですね。で、それに近いものとして、やっぱり表現っていうものもあってですね、ただ、人の回復のためのアートとか、人を繋ぐためのアートという事でもなく、アートとか表現というのはもっと強烈なものとしてここではあるんですけれども、自分たちの気持ちとか、心の中でもたもやしたものであるとか、他者に対してもやもやする思いとかが何なのかっていうのを、自分の気持ちに耳を澄ましてみてあげる感覚とか、自分のこころを掘っていって、違和感があるのは何なのかとか、嬉しい気持ちが何なのかっていうものを掘ったり、聞いたりする (0.01)
実際に人が集ってそこで、みんなでそのことをしてみるという中で関係が紡がれたりとか、いままで固定化していた関係がちょっとゆるんだりとか、今までと違う関係が生まれたりとかという事がここでのアートとか表現するということの大きな意味と役割 (1.28)

We consider ‘media’ similar to a situation in which people chitchat. So that’s the concept of our media centre. And our concept of artistic expressions is also based on a similar manner. But, we consider art more vibrant than just healing people or relating people. Like expressing frustration against oneself or others, it’s an expression to carefully listen to one’s own inner voice and to search for a cause of discomfort or even pleasure by digging inside of oneself deeper. As a result of people gathering and actually doing something together, they can be related, ease down stiff relationships, or find different ways of engagement. That’s the meaningful role of art for us. (1.28)

遠藤水城、限界集落

やっぱり、アーティスト、イコール、すべての人みたいな、夢は、まだ成就していないし、そして、そうあるべきだっていう、そうある事が美しいことだっていう確信がある（0：10）僕らは一方でアーティストはすごく特別で才能があってっていうふうに言うし、でも、もう一方ですべての人に個別性と特殊性があって、クレイティヴィティーがあるって言う（0：42）アーティストが特別、一般大衆というのに、アーティストもそんな特別じゃない、一般の人もオリジナリティー、個性を持った人である。というコミュニケーションの中でキュレーターがそれを調整するみたいな（1：04）アーティストがすべての人であるとなった時に、キュレーターの役割は終るはずなんだよね。その最後の瞬間が生きている間にこないかなと思って、そしたら、報われるわ。少なくとも、僕がやっている仕事はその流れの中の役にたっているはずだから、その確信がある（1：20）

You know, I have a dream that one day artist could mean everyone. But such a dream has not come true yet. I still believe that it should be like that and it’s beautiful if everyone could become artist.(0.10) On the one hand, we say artists are somewhat special and talented, but on the other hand, every single person has individuality, idiosyncrasy, and creativity.(0.42:) Artists are special, ordinary people not. But is it really true? Artists are not so special and ordinary people also have originalities and characters.
